Suicide ‘game’ called ‘Momo’ targets teens through social media

There’s a disturbing suicide “game” spreading through WhatsApp, Facebook and YouTube called “Momo.”

And it has police and other authorities concerned around the world.

The games uses as its main character, or “avatar,” the sculpted image of a woman with grotesque features and bulging eyes, taken from the work of Japanese artist Midori Hayashi, who is not associated with the game in any way….

Today may have been the hottest day in the history of Europe

Temperatures in Spain and Portugal soared to near-record highs Friday as part of Europe’s heat wave, and governments put emergency services on alert for forest fires.

Iberia’s heat wave, caused by hot air from North Africa, is the most severe since 2003. Elsewhere, summer has brought forest fires and drought to places as far apart as Britain, Scandinavia and Greece.

Temperatures in many parts of Spain and Portugal will remain above 104 degrees Fahrenheit at least until Sunday, and could rise a further 3 or 4 degrees. That could push them above Europe’s previous record high of 118 F, set in Athens in 1977….

A flat tire started the deadly Carr Fire and days of devastation in California

It happens countless times on roads across the United States: a vehicle gets a flat tire as it’s driving along.

But on this road near Redding, California, when a tire failed last month on a trailer and its rim scraped the asphalt, the result proved to be catastrophic for an entire region.

The sparks that shot out July 23 from that minor incident, California fire officials said, ignited what is now the sixth-most destructive wildfire in state history.
The Carr Fire blazed a fiery path along Highway 299, lighting up mile after mile of dry brush as it crept up on residential areas.
The blazed turned everything it touched into ash, mangled metal and black embers, and is still burning nearly two weeks later. It’s killed six people, scorched nearly 134,000 acres — an area larger than Denver — and created its own weather system….

Virginia’s College Lake Dam Is in ‘Imminent Failure,’ Would Flood City in Minutes

All eyes are on College Lake Dam, just down from the University of Lynchburg in Virginia.

Heavy rains sent water spilling over the dam, spurring fears that it could collapse, it has already prompted some home evacuations in the city of roughly 80,000 people.

Authorities have evacuated parts of Lynchburg, Virginia, in preparation of what county officials report as the “imminent failure” of the College Lake Dam.

Major Tommy Carter of the Lynchburg Sheriff’s office told CBN News the community was “preparing for the worst” as they face a potentially catastrophic flooding situation.

The National Weather Service reported if the dam does fail, “the water depth at Lynchburg could exceed 17 feet in 7 minutes.”

Carter explained that they were already dealing with floods from days of rain – more than six inches which has gotten worse – and they have had to conduct evacuations, some by boat….

According To The “Buffett Indicator”, The Stock Market Is More Primed For A Crash Than It Has Ever Been Before

Warren Buffett’s favorite indicator is telling us that stocks are more overvalued right now than they have ever been before in American history.  That doesn’t mean that a stock market crash is imminent.  In fact, this indicator has been in the “danger zone” for quite some time.  But what it does tell us is that stock valuations are more bloated than we have ever seen and that a stock market crash would make perfect sense.  So precisely what is the “Buffett Indicator”?  Well, it is actually very simple to calculate.  You just take the total market value of all stocks and divide it by the gross domestic product.  When that ratio is more than 100 percent, stocks are generally considered to be overvalued, and when that ratio is under 100 percent stocks are generally considered to be undervalued.  The following comes from MSN

That being said, the Buffett Indicator, while it’s not a flawless indicator, does tend to peak during hot stock markets and bottom during weak markets. And as a general rule, if the indicator falls below 80%-90% or so, it has historically signaled that stocks are cheap. On the other hand, levels significantly higher than 100% can indicate stocks are expensive.

For context, the Buffett indicator peaked at about 145% right before the dot-com bubble burst and reached nearly 110% before the financial crisis.

So where are we today?

Right now we are at almost 149 percent, which is the highest level ever recorded…..

Air Force remains silent after huge meteor hits near US military base

A meteor hit the earth and exploded with 2.1 kilotons of force last month, but the US Air Force has made no mention of the event.

NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory confirmed an object of unspecified size travelling at 24.4 kilometres per second struck earth in Greenland, just 43 kilometres north of an early missile warning Thule Air Base on the 25th of July, 2018.

Director of the Nuclear Information Project for the Federation of American Scientists, Hans Kristensen, tweeted about the impact, but America’s Air Force has not reported the event….

We’re still here, so they correctly concluded it was not a Russian first strike. There are nearly 2,000 nukes on alert, ready to launch.….
