At least 26 dead as blast hits meeting of Taliban & Afghan forces during landmark ceasefire..

At least 26 people were killed as an explosion rocked a meeting of Taliban and Afghan security forces during an unprecedented ceasefire for the Eid holiday. Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) has claimed responsibility.

Casualties include Taliban members, Afghan security forces, and civilians, Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor of Nangarhar, said.

IS has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack, according to the group’s Amaq news agency, which confirmed that it targeted “a gathering of Afghan forces.”

Earlier, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed that “the incident has nothing to do with the Taliban,” adding that “our members suffered casualties.”

The timing of the bombing in the eastern city of Nangarhar appears to be significant. On Saturday, Taliban members entered the Afghan capital, Kabul urging people to come forward and take selfies with them. The unusual move reportedly occurred elsewhere in the country, as photos and videos on social media showed Taliban fighters giving hugs to locals and Afghan forces across several provinces….

Octopus, starfish and shrimps: Sea creatures fall from the sky during intense storm in Chinese coastal city

On June 13, the city of Qingdao was suddenly engulfed by convective weather caused by strong winds, hail and thunderstorms. A large number of trees in the urban area were broken, blocking traffic damaging cars vehicles. And some sea creatures started to fall from the sky. The first picture shows an octopus blown onto the windshield of a car.

A ferocious storm that swept over a coastal city in China spawned conditions which caused sea creatures to rain down from the sky! The incredible phenomenon occurred in Qingdao earlier this week when winds and rain combined to flood the city and generally wreak havoc on the area. As residents were riding out the storm, they were stunned to see some proverbial visitors to the city in the form of various denizens of the deep that had been suddenly deposited onto cars and sidewalks from the sky….

  • 8 killed as violence fractures Nicaragua ceasefire

At least eight people have been killed in Nicaragua after violent clashes between authorities and demonstrators resumed just hours after peace talks. Outrage at President Daniel Ortega’s decision to slash pensions has sparked vicious confrontations between police and protesters since April. Despite an agreement earlier this week to discuss reforms, gunshots were heard in the capital, Managua on Saturday. Reuters reports that eight people, including a family, were killed in a shootout and fire in the city.

Even Ordering a Cheap Pizza Isn’t Hacker-Proof Anymore

Just in case you needed further proof that everything you do online can and will come to light.

Taking a break from their world-class social media account, Domino’s French Twitter account was tasked with admitting that the pizza chain had been hacked, and personal info from over 600,000 customers in France and Belgium had been stolen.

The culprits go by the handle Rex Mundi and, in a post on Dpaste.de, demanded 30,000 euros to keep the information in question—which according to the hackers includes “the customers’ full names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, passwords and delivery instructions. (Oh, and their favorite pizza topping as well, because why not)”—secret. Given what passes as cheese on a Domino’s pizza, I should think that French customers would be ruined by the release of this information.

But Domino’s will not be threatened and will not negotiate. Taking a stand that’s zestier than their zestiest ball of chicken, Andrew Rennie, the chief executive of Domino’s Pizza Enterprise Europe, vowed not to be intimidated.

“We refuse to be extorted and we are not going to play that game,” Rennie told the Financial Times. “It cannot be good for anybody if companies pay ransoms. We have to take a stance on this.”….
