Puerto Rico: 85% no power-45 dead, 113 unaccounted for, dead animals in the water..

Nearly three weeks after Hurricane Maria pummeled Puerto Rico, the vast majority of the island remains without power and the death toll from the storm has risen to 45, authorities said.

At least 113 people remain unaccounted for, according to Karixia Ortiz, a spokeswoman for Puerto Rico’s Department of Public Safety.

The recovery has moved slowly since Maria struck the US territory on September 20, leaving most of the island without basic services such as power and running water, according to residents, relief workers and local elected officials.

Acting US Department of Homeland Security Elaine Duke will make her second trip to the island on Thursday, DHS spokesman David Lapan said Wednesday….

N. Korea hackers ‘may have stolen’ S. Korea-US military plans

North Korean hackers may have stolen a large amount of classified military documents, including the latest South Korea-US wartime operational plan, Yonhap reported Tuesday, citing a South Korean ruling party lawmaker. Democratic Party representative Rhee Cheol-hee claimed that 235 gigabytes of military documents were taken from the Defense Integrated Data Center. The contents of about 80 percent of the data have not yet been identified, Yonhap said, adding that the hack took place in September last year. Pyongyang has denied responsibility for the cyberattacks, criticizing Seoul for “fabricating” claims about online attacks, Reuters said.
